Infiniti ended the first quarter of 2016 with exceptionally strong sales numbers. In March the brand achieved an all-time high record by selling more than 24,900 vehicles globally, an increase of 22% over March 2015. This marks the 19th consecutive month with global year-on-year growth. In the first quarter, Infiniti sold more than 57,200 vehicles, which surpasses the first quarter of 2015 by 9%. It is the best ever first quarter in Infiniti's history.
The newly freshened 2016 Infiniti QX60 premium crossover, when equipped with Forward Emergency Braking, has received a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) after earning a "Superior" rating for front crash prevention.
Infiniti today reported sales of 13,775 vehicles in the U.S. during March, an increase of 10.0 percent versus prior year. The new QX50 luxury crossover had its best March ever with an increase of 596.8 percent to 1,512 units. The QX60 7-passenger luxury crossover also saw its most successful March ever with sales of 3,905, an increase of 20.4 percent. In all, Infiniti crossovers and sport utility vehicles were up 37.2 percent over prior year.
The Infiniti QX30 premium active crossover received the prestigious award of Best SUV/Crossover from the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association (GAMMA) during the 2016 Atlanta International Auto Show. Members of GAAMA walked the floor of the Georgia World Congress Center to preview more than 400 new import and domestic cars, light trucks, vans, crossovers and sport utility vehicles on display at the 34th annual Atlanta International Auto Show.
Infiniti and Nest®, a Hong Kong-based investment company, today announced that the second "Infiniti Accelerator," a 12-week startup development program, is now open for applications from around the world. This second edition of the Infiniti Accelerator builds upon the successful completion of the first such program at the end of 2015. The "Infiniti Accelerator 2.0" will continue the previous theme of smart cities but focus particularly on connectivity technologies as part of the solutions for future intelligent urban mobility.
